Backup preference settings on the Firestorm Viewer

It won’t be much longer and then Firestorm will also be rolling out their PBR viewer. Some people have been helping to test it already in the Phoenix-Firestorm Preview group. So nothing better than the presence and it becomes time to update our Firestorm viewer settings.

So I hear you say, why do I need to back up my settings?
Well, you might run into unexpected problems that require you to reset all your settings or you had a huge crash and they are gone, updating your viewer might sometimes cause issues. It just takes hours to redo your settings but restoring your settings takes a few minutes and a relog.
So why not do it?

Backup

First of all, go to your preference settings by clicking “ctrl + P” or “avatar menu - Preferences”.
Find the tab “Backup & Restore”.
Decide on a location on your computer where you want to store your settings and you know that they will be safe for future use. Create a directory in that location with a name that you will be able to remember.
And now press “backup settings”

Restore

Go to the same preference folder as mentioned before.
Find the backup path and make sure that location is set.
Press Restore settings, click “ok” and restart your viewer.

The Firestorm Wiki posted also a very helpful post about this topic that might help you if you want to store the settings of multiple avatars. So check that one out as well.
